Reason for Selling

Trying something new

Hiho discerning audio buyers. Up for sale are my much-loved Kii3 Active Speakers and assorted Extras.

I have owned these beauties since August 2019, after a purchase from Sonic Purity.

You can find all the outstanding specs of the Kii3 in the link. All the details are provided to aid in making an informed decision.

I have loved the Kii3 since day one and still do. The $64 question is….”So why sell?” Simple answer ………..” I wanted to try something different after 6 years”.

I have moved on to another brand of Actives. IMHO, once you go Active, you never go back.

All you need to use the Kii3 is a Music Source that can Output 1V RMS. That is basically any Streamer on the market today. Kii3 has Digital and/or Analog input.

The Kii3 are the beautiful sounding, ‘Swiss Army Knife’ of Speakers. There are No Amps to buy. No PreAmp to buy. No DAC to buy. No Speaker Cable to buy. No DSP to buy.

The Kii3 has been used in a child-free, smoke-free environment. As the images attest, there isn’t a mark to be found on Speakers or Stands. They are in mint condition.

What you get for the purchase…..

2 x Kii3

2 x Kii3 Stands, currently filled with sand.

1 x Kii3 Controller. The Controller has not been used for the past 5 years and has sat wrapped up in a drawer.

2 x 3 metre Cat 5E cables. One Cable connects the Kii3 (Master/Slave) and the second connects the Controller to the Master Kii3. You can settle into your chair and play with the internal DSP in real time.

2 x 5 metre Power cables.

2 sets of 4 carpet spikes plus 8 hardwood metal floor protectors.

I have all the original boxes/packaging for the Kii3.

I would prefer pickup, but may deliver, pending discussions.

Using a Courier becomes a Cost issue, owing to the total Weight. Each Kii3 is 19kg. Each stand (without sand) is 25kg. Add 5 kg of sand (each). By the time all is boxed, it is approaching 100kg. Happy to freight, but it will need to be discussed.

The Kii3’s have not been driven hard. I am a 75 to 85db listener, and the Kii3 have built-in safety cutoffs if pushed to high volumes. The safety design doesn’t actually cut off the speakers; it just lowers the dB level on certain frequencies. A red light flickers to notify the listener they have gone too far.

The best price I can find on the internet was $22,950 for a white Demo pair. See GC-HiFi and Frank Prowse HiFi

Brand new, the Kii3/Stands/Controller package is pushing $33,000.

I can audition, but I suspect any potential buyer will already know the Kii3’s capabilities and the exceptional musical qualities they display.

The attached videos should answer all questions re setup and specs.

And finally, a word from the manufacturer........See video

If you are looking for a brilliant-sounding device with a small footprint and exceptional WAF, look no further.

Connect the Kii3 with any of the new well-priced Chinese Streamers on the market – Gustard, Eversolo, Topping, Fiio, SMSL or Wiim, and you will be clicking your fingers and tapping your feet in no time.

User reviews and community discussions praise the Kii Audio Kii3 Standmount Loudspeakers for their exceptional sound quality, innovative cardioid design, and room-friendly performance, though some note limitations in warmth and high-volume bass.

### Sound Quality
Listeners consistently highlight clarity, precision, agility, and imaging as standout features, with the cardioid dispersion minimizing room reflections for a direct, uncolored sound. Bass is described as superb, clean, extended (down to 20Hz), and dynamic, even from small cabinets, thanks to DSP-controlled drivers and boundary compensation. The speakers remain neutral and transparent across volumes, with high resolution and low distortion up to ~96dB/1m, though a limiter engages at higher levels to protect output. Low-latency mode trades some bass precision and imaging for TV/gaming use but retains cardioid benefits. Minor critiques include a loss of natural warmth and body when paired with the Kii Controller, making voices and instruments sound thinner despite added clarity.

### Build Quality
Reviewers commend the high-quality construction, including compact 40cm cabinets (19kg each) housing a tweeter, midrange, and four bass drivers, plus robust stands with cable management. DSP integration, multiple inputs (analogue, AES/EBU, KiiLink), and 14 boundary presets enhance usability and reliability.

### Reliability
Discussions note excellent build quality implying strong reliability, with automatic standby and DSP limiting preventing overload—output caps above 96dB/1m to avoid damage. No widespread failure reports; users value the premium components for long-term dependability.

### Strengths
- Room independence: Performs consistently anywhere due to rear radiation suppression and DSP adjustments.
- Dynamics and loudness: Up to 115dB peaks with composure; wide bandwidth and symmetry rival point-source designs.
- Innovation: ActiveWaveFocusing and cardioid LF control yield precise soundstaging and minimal room modes.

### Weaknesses
- Bass limiting at very high volumes (~90dB/4m), reducing extension.
- Controller pairing can thin out tonal warmth.
- Some prefer competitors like Dutch & Dutch 8C for more solid bass.
- Cables described as stiff.

### Overall Reputation
The Kii3 earns a top-tier reputation among audiophiles and pros for pushing boundaries in engineering, with scores like What Hi-Fi?'s 4/5 sound, 5/5 build/compatibility—hailed as "exceptional," "astonishing," and future-proof for controlled directivity. At ~€12,000/pair, it's seen as a premium investment for clarity-focused setups, though not flawless in every timbre nuance.

The fair AUD market price for Kii Audio Kii3 (Kii THREE) Standmount Loudspeakers is approximately AUD 20,000–25,000 per pair for new units, with used prices typically 20–40% lower at AUD 12,000–18,000 per pair.

### Price Range Breakdown
- New: Listings and reviews indicate a consistent range of USD 11,495–11,500 per pair (equivalent to ~AUD 17,500–18,000 at current conservative exchange rates of 1 USD ≈ 1.52 AUD), GBP 10,990–16,371 (~AUD 21,000–24,000 at 1 GBP ≈ 1.90 AUD, noting the higher GBP figure includes Kii Control), and EUR ~10,000 (~AUD 16,500).
- Used/Consignment: Sparse data shows bundles (e.g., with BXT modules) at USD 35,000 (~AUD 53,000), but standmount-only used sales are not directly listed; expect discounts based on high-end audio resale norms.

| Condition | Typical Price (AUD per pair) | Key Sources |
|-----------|------------------------------|-------------|
| New | 20,000–25,000 | |
| Used | 12,000–18,000 | Inferred from and market norms |

### Key Factors Affecting Value
- Condition: New units command full retail; used depreciate by wear, original accessories (e.g., Kii Control at ~AUD 3,000 extra), and warranty status.
- Configuration: Base standmount pair; adds like stands (~AUD 2,500–3,000), Kii Control, or BXT modules inflate to AUD 30,000+.
- Finish/Market: Variations in white/graphite/custom finishes; regional pricing (e.g., higher in GBP/AUD markets) and rarity in Australia push premiums.
- Other: Active DSP design, 1500W amplification, and cardioid bass reduce room treatment needs, supporting value vs. competitors; demand from audiophiles stabilizes resale.

Prices reflect 2023–2026 data with minimal inflation adjustment; Australian listings are scarce, so import duties/VAT may add 10–20%.
