You probably already know whether you want this or not. If you're still rocking the stock Sony cable, you're either perfectly happy (fair enough) or you haven't experienced what a great headphone cable can do fo the Z1R yet.
This is the 6n purity AWG20 cryo-treated version, with 4 cores — only bettered by the new 8 core version. Pure silver, not that silver-plated copper garbage that comes in the box.
What it actually does: Tightens up that slightly bloated midbass, smooths out the treble peak that makes poorly recorded vocals sound like nails on a chalkboard, and generally makes everything sound more... precise. Less warm and cuddly than the Sony Kimber cable, more "open and resolving."
What it doesn't do: Make your music sound warmer or more romantic. If you absolutely love the Z1R's dark coloured presentation, this might not be your jam. Personally, I enjoyed switching between this, and the Kimber x Sony CU cable for different types of listening/genres.
Fair warning: once you hear how much better the presentation is, going back to stock is a punch in the face.
The 2m length is actually about 1.9m based on my measurements, but I've never felt it was too short!
There's some minor paint wear on the locking connectors — barely noticeable unless you're looking for it, never noticed it during use. See supporting photos as part of the description. Function is perfect.
If you want a quality breakdown on listening impressions of this cable vs stock and Kimber cables, there's a great review here: https://theheadphonelist.com/lavricables-ultimate-v3-cable-review-sony-goes-silver/
Retail is $676USD($1040AUD) without factoring in shipping costs or the wait time. I'm asking $600AUD o.b.o. You save ~$440 and get it within a week with plenty of free burn-in — you're welcome.
