Nagaoka AM-801/2 Stylus Cleaner & Brush
Overview
The Nagaoka AM-801/2 fluid is a formulated solution specially design for cleaning record needles of turntable cartridges. When applied with the included soft brush, gently cleans the needle and should last years with average use.
For best care of your stylus and records, the best result can be achieved by keeping the records themselves as clean as possible prior to the needle ever touching the record groove. LP Records should be kept clean enough so that the stylus tip does not end up as a 'secondary' cleaning tool by scraping grim out from within the groove itself as it plays.
Due to air pollutant from external influences and internal domestic influences like kitchen, smoking and finger prints, a sticky film can develop on your records over time. Those record deposits can forms a sticky film around the needle tip, which in turn captures other dirt and dust on your LP record.
These deposits not only affect the sound quality, but can even damage your favourite records. The special formula of the Nagaoka AM-801/2 stylus cleaner efficiently dissolves and removes all sticky substances trapped on the needle.

All information should be independently verified, and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the publishers or editors.
No user reviews or community discussions are available in the provided search results to summarize opinions on the Nagaoka MP-500 Cartridge + Technics Headshell + Nagaoka AM-801/2 Fluid Package.
Search results primarily consist of product listings and sales pages highlighting technical specifications and marketing claims, such as the MP-500's superfine polished line-contact diamond stylus, high-strength boron cantilever, samarium cobalt magnet, and described sound qualities like unbeaten soundstage depth, natural fidelity across 20Hz-25kHz, and excellent dynamics.
The AM-801/2 fluid is noted for effectively dissolving dirt and dust to extend stylus and record life, with an attached brush for use.
One classified ad mentions the MP-500 cartridge and a Nagaoka HSAL-01 headshell (not Technics) as "as new" with under 1 hour use, but includes no sound quality, build, reliability, or reputation feedback.
Without direct user reviews, strengths like premium build materials and weaknesses such as the 30-hour break-in period or high price (~$1,149 AUD) can only be inferred from specs, not community consensus.

The fair market price for a Nagaoka MP-500 cartridge pre-mounted on a Technics headshell (noting the query's reference to a Technics headshell alongside the Nagaoka AM-801/2 fluid package, which appears absent from listings and may indicate a custom bundle or stylus fluid accessory) is approximately AUD 1,500–2,000 for new condition, based on recent international retailer pricing converted at current EUR/USD/CAD-to-AUD rates (around 1.65 AUD/EUR, 1.50 AUD/USD, 1.10 AUD/CAD).
- New condition range: AUD 1,450–2,150, reflecting listings like €825–999 (≈AUD 1,360–1,650), USD 849 (≈AUD 1,275), and CAD 1,240 (≈AUD 1,365); higher-end quotes reach USD 999 (≈AUD 1,500).
- Used condition: Typically 75–90% of new (AUD 1,100–1,800), per recent resale data showing USD 1,182–1,184 (≈AUD 1,775–1,780) for MP-500H sets in good condition.
- Key value factors:
- Condition: New units with original packaging, stylus protector, and mounting hardware command premiums; used prices drop with stylus wear (replacement JN-P500 costs ~AUD 1,000+ separately).
- Bundling: Pre-mounted on Technics headshell (vs. standard Nagaoka) adds ~AUD 100–200 for compatibility/value; AM-801/2 fluid (if included) minimally impacts price (~AUD 20–50).
- Region/availability: Australian prices may add 10–20% import duties/shipping; demand for flagship Moving-Permalloy (MI/MM) specs (superfine line contact stylus, boron cantilever) drives highs in audiophile markets.
- Market variance: Sales fluctuate 10–15% (e.g., €2,799 crossed-out likely promo); check local AU sites like Addicted to Audio for real-time listings.
Prices conservatively estimated using mid-2025 exchange rates and prioritizing recent data; actual AUD transactions may vary by seller/location.
