Pink Triangle True Point Audio upgraded Turntable.
Up for sale is one of my favourite turntables which took the place of and easily bettering my Kuzma Stabi with PSU. The Pink Triangle has been fully upgraded by True Point Audio in the UK having had the works. You won't see another one of these turntables come up for a very long time.
The turntable was slightly damaged by Australia Post and I have taken a photo of the corner. It doesn't impact on the performance and from a metre away is hardly noticeable but I have taken a close up and zoomed in so it actually looks a lot worse in the photo. This was done for full transparency. I will not pack and send this turntable and I will not take it to Pack and Send as I don't trust them either. This is pick up only.
I also have two acrylic tops on is in white and the other black in case the clear doesn't appeal. Also included is some TP oil and grease and a little tool to help put the belt on.
Tri drive upgrade
There are few inherent problems with the esteemed Pink Triangle turntable, but one of them is the axial play that can occur at the top of the bearing housing.
Although the mass of the turntable tends to centre the pivot ball of the bearing into the centre of the sapphire cup, there is a sideways pull from the drive belt pulling the platter towards the motor. This effect has a tendency to pull the pivot ball in the bearing to the edge of the sapphire cup.
To help correct this, TP have re-positioned the motor onto the sub-chassis, inline between the platter spindle and the tonearm board, similar to the PT Anniversary thus producing a better balanced system. Also, If the platter is driven from three equal points about its circumference, then the balance of the platter is much improved. To achieve this, we have placed two pulleys and the motor pulley equally spaced at 120° about the circumference of the belt recess in the platter.
The result of all this, is an unbiased rotation that is true to the centre of the platter bearing and produces a much enhanced sound quality which is deemed by many as being the prime enhancement that is overlooked by turntable manufacturers.
Also, due to the platter now having a balanced drive, there is less 'judder' when the motor is switched on or when the speed is changed, so there is less likelihood of the belt jumping off the platter.
Inverted Sapphire bearing
This arrangement has a sapphire end-stone fixed into the end of a highly polished hardened steel shaft, the shaft rotates in a tube where the end-stone sits on a ball bearing.
Including a ruby sapphire end-stone replacement for this type of bearing.
Midas Speed control unit
This is the reason that MIDAS technology was developed. By isolating the voltage regulation circuits during the conduction cycle of the bridge rectifier, most if not all of the effects of mains pollution can be eliminated. The end result is a vast step forward in sound quality.
True Point Audio's (TPA) philosophy is to continually strive for improvement in their products, with this in mind and for the reasons mentioned above, we have developed MIDAS the superlative speed control unit. There are 'never-connected power supplies' to power your Hi Fi equipment but few (if any) that incorporate the technology into turntable speed controllers – that was until now. We proudly announce our latest range of speed controllers that incorporate 'never–connected power supply' technology. We thought that ‘never-connected power supply’ a rather long winded description of a power supply that is completely isolated from the mains supply, so we have decided to call it MIDAS, an acronym which stands for:
Mains isolated, DC Advanced system
TP Speed Control Units, as standard, incorporate a comprehensive mains filtering system, but now go much further by completely isolating the mains secondary voltage from the rectified and regulated DC voltage that controls the motor speed. MIDAS totally eliminates all mains borne noise, spikes, surges and voltage dips.
MIDAS uses the latest software and hardware to determine the exact point in the bridge rectifier voltage to charge the primary reservoir capacitor to its absolute optimum value before comprehensively isolating the secondary and by association the mains voltage, before transferring the maximum charge from the primary reservoir capacitor to the secondary reservoir capacitor. The voltage from the secondary reservoir capacitor supplies pure DC, free of any mains generated interference, glitches or noise to the DC turntable motor.
New motor was also upgraded.
New Suspension parts and hangers upgraded as well as the springs.
Fully adjustable record clamp
The total mass of the clamping knob is less than 46.1 gms which is well within the recommended loading of the platter and designed to be fully adjustable to use on platters with no mat to platters with 5 mm thick mats. It also does not scuff the record label as it is tightened up.
The Record Clamp can be used to safely lift the bearing and platter off the spindle without fear of the platter and bearing dropping and smashing the jewel.
Light weight arm-boards included - 1 blank and 1 Linn geometry
True Point Audio’s lightweight arm-boards are a constructed of carbon fibre and foam composite. The carbon fibre sheet provides rigidity and a contemporary look, while the resin-impregnated foam helps abate transient resonance. The arm-board is pre-drilled to fit straight onto your Pink Triangle turntable.
The turntable was fully rebuilt to True Points high standards.
