Valvo / Telefunken Valvo PINCHED WAIST E88CC and Telefunken E188CC Valves/Tubes

For Sale: My (easily) TWO favourite Premium PAIRS of 6dj8 tubes

My Holy Grail Pair of Pinched Waist Valvo E88CC from Heerlen, Holland

and

My Pair of Telefunken E188CC from Germany.

Though I have not measured them myself both pairs seem very strong with absolutely no microphonics or issues.

The measurements on the telefunken boxes were as they were sold to me and I have probably put about 50 hours on them since.

You will find notes on these tubes on this following link:

https://www.audiotubes.com/6dj8.htm

Both pairs are from the 1960's

These two pairs offer two distinct sounds:

The Valvo extremely musical and detailed even if playing at low volume;

The Telefunken detailed and "linear" in sound with great extension.

If you have any questions just ask.

I'm selling as looking to downsize my audio/headfi options at home.

Postage and paypal are included.

Thanks

Peter T

All information should be independently verified, and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the publishers or editors.

Based on the search results provided, I have limited information about user reviews and community discussions specifically for these tubes. Here's what I found:

## Valvo/Telefunken Pinched Waist E88CC

The search results contain minimal direct user feedback on this specific variant. The results reference general E88CC/6922 tubes made by Telefunken, but do not isolate reviews of the Valvo pinched waist version specifically.

## Telefunken E188CC

Sound Quality: The E188CC is described as a lively sounding tube that "does a great job of keeping up with fast changing music" with a clean character.

Reputation and Rarity: E188CC tubes are considered some of the very best among 6922-family tubes, though they are less common than standard 6922s. They command higher prices and are more sought after in the audiophile community due to their scarcity.

Build and Testing: One premium example (a 1960s Telefunken-made variant) tested to platinum-grade standards with excellent triode balance, suggesting high build quality in well-preserved samples.

## Limitations

The search results do not provide sufficient user reviews addressing build quality, reliability, specific weaknesses, or detailed comparisons between these two variants. Community discussions reference these tubes only briefly without extensive firsthand user experiences. To get comprehensive information on user opinions about these specific models, you would need access to dedicated tube review forums or recent user feedback from audio equipment retailers.

Telefunken E88CC (including rare Valvo/Telefunken pinched waist variants) and Telefunken E188CC vacuum tubes have an estimated fair AUD market price of AUD 350–650 per tube for NOS or excellent used condition, based on recent USD/EUR listings converted at ~1.5 AUD per USD/EUR.

Prices vary significantly by condition: NOS (new old stock, unopened or mint) commands the higher end (AUD 450–650+ per tube), while used/excellent condition falls to AUD 350–500 per tube; lower grades or common variants dip below AUD 300. Listings for pinched waist Valvo/Telefunken E88CC are scarce but align with premium Telefunken E88CC pricing, often matching gold pin/diamond bottom examples.

Key factors affecting value:
- Brand and rarity: Telefunken (especially West Germany, gold pins, diamond bottom, or pinched waist) premium over Mullard/Amperex; E188CC variants (higher-spec 7308 equivalent) add 20–50% value (e.g., Amperex E188CC at USD 375 ≈ AUD 560).
- Condition and testing: NOS with boxes/tests (low noise/microphonics) highest; matched pairs/sets multiply value (e.g., 2x Telefunken E88CC at USD 550 ≈ AUD 825 total).
- Features: Gold pins, diamond logo, military printing boost by 30–100% (e.g., Telefunken ECC88 NOS USD 200–490 ≈ AUD 300–735).
- Market trends: Recent 2025–2026 sales show Telefunken E88CC at €140–590/pair (≈ AUD 230–970 per tube), with audiophile demand driving highs; cheaper generics (e.g., JJ/Tesla) under AUD 150 irrelevant here.

These estimates use conservative mid-range from 20+ listings, prioritizing 2024–2026 data for relevance; actual sales may fluctuate with testing reports or sets.
