Barefoot MicroMain 35 Professional Active Studio Monitors

I never thought I'd do it, but I have decided to put my Barefoot MicroMain 35 studio monitors up for sale. These have had pride of place in my home studio and are one of the most dynamic yet uncoloured active studio monitors that money can buy. These are priced for less than the Footprint 01 series which are not even close to the performance of the MicroMain range of monitors. Retail price was $10,500 when new. The Micromain 45 is the current replacement at $6,100 AUD each

Crystal clear, effortless, pristine imaging, some of the best studio monitors you can buy. These don't come up for sale often and handily outperform monitors from all the big pro audio houses including Genelec, ATC and Focal. If you are considering anything active or even bookshelf speakers with outboard amplification, you have to hear these first.

Following in the footsteps of the wildly popular MicroMain27, the Barefoot Sound MicroMain35 manages to pack unbelievable 3-way performance into an even more compact enclosure. To deliver its exceptional clarity, the MM35 sports innovative dual force-canceling 7" subwoofers complemented by a 5" midbass driver and a 1" dome tweeter. The result is a compact monitor with extended frequency response and near-linear performance with one goal in mind: mix translation. It's everything you'd expect from a Barefoot.

  • Your go-to monitor for compact spaces
  • Integrated dual 7" subs help clean up the upper bass

Your go-to monitor for compact spaces
The design philosophy behind the MM35 and its bigger brother, the MM27, is all about bringing upper-echelon performance to those of us working in smaller spaces. Thomas Barefoot took an out-of-the-box approach in developing the lineup of Barefoot Sound monitors, crafting monitors widely praised for their sonic clarity and effortless translation. They're proof positive that if you have the right set of monitors, you only need one set of monitors.

Integrated dual 7" subs help clean up the upper bass
In addition to its 1" soft-dome tweeter and 5" midbass driver, the MM35 sports a dual-sub design inherited from the MM27. With the 7" subs positioned on either side, the MM35 takes advantage of force-canceling, so the monitor stays in place no matter how hard you push it and avoids that kick-back effect, resulting in an honest picture of your mix. What's more, because the MM35 incorporates subs, it lets the midrange do what it's meant to do, dramatically cleaning up how you hear the upper bass and mids.

Barefoot Monitors are used by a veritable who-is-who in the recording industry. Favoured by production and mixing luminaries like Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage), Mark "Spike" Stent (U2, Beyonce, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, No Doubt), Boys Noize, Tony Visconti (David Bowie, T Rex, Moody Blues, Morrissey) and many more.

Please note, these are the Gen 1 version, preferred by anyone that wants to use an external DAC. The Gen 2 iterations perform ADC on incoming signal before subjecting the signal to a modelling DSP in the actual monitor itself.

These sound absolutely stellar. Will play subtly at lower volumes and when they get asked to stretch their legs they do magical things at volume. For near field listening, studio work or just bringing a smile to your face, these babies are something else.

I also have some desktop stands for these that I can throw into the deal.

I will happily demo for serious interested buyers. These will not disappoint.
