Electrical Disclaimer Description
This is a Jay's Audio CDT2-Mk III which has been "burned in" as we audiophiles like to say for approx. 200 hrs and the manufacturer says it may still improve after 400 hours (!) running-in time. It is also best to allow it to "warm up" for an hour to hear the best from it, although I think (to my ears) 15 minutes is enough.
The unit is in MINT cosmetic condition and will be shipped in original, double-box packaging as per manufacturer's specs. Please note that any white "amrks" in the photos are filaments of dust/lint from the carpet!! The unit has no marks on it of any kind!
Typical retail price in Australia (where this unit is located): $4,500
Accessories include: Remote Control (as shown), Screw Driver, Spare fuses, Gloves and CD Clamp.
The Jay's Audio CDT2-MK3 CD transport features four main digital outputs designed for high-end audio, including HDMI I2S (LVDS), AES/EBU, and SPDIF (both BNC and RCA). It operates at a native 16-bit/44.1kHz or 176.4kHz up-sampled rate, with outputs galvanically isolated for optimal signal integrity.
HDMI I2S (LVDS): Considered the preferred connection, this supports high-resolution transport to compatible DACs.
AES/EBU: A 5Vrms 110-ohm balanced output for, ensuring quality over long cable runs.
SPDIF/Coaxial: Both 75-ohm BNC and RCA (2Vrms) outputs are provided for standard coaxial connections.
To say that this is a "solid, highly-refined design" is to understate things a little. The unit weighs 15.5 kg!! A very rigid and solid foundation for the player mechanism to inhabit. The CDT2-MK3 uses a Philips CDM4/19 mechanism.
N.B. The buyer will see there is a postage charge ($50) on this item as it is very heavy (16kg when packed) and this is still not FULL postage for this parcel.
PRESS REVIEWS:
"The CDT MKIII also comes with a solid metal remote that you could use to defend yourself if need be. Everything here seems to be of high quality and while I can not speak to the longevity for years to come I can tell you it appears that it will last for decades."
"I loved this experienced and if I still had all of my CD’s this would be my CD solution within my reference system. You may get 5% more by spending 5X more but the question at that point would be…why?"
"That doesn’t detract, though, from what Jay’s Audio has achieved with its CDT2-MK3. It is an impressively engineered and fine sounding transport deserving of serious respect. That it costs as little as it does is further reason to pay it attention."
