Hi Everyone
I am offering the beloved, by many of you and also by me, KLH MODEL FIVE speakers for $3990, brand new and in boxes, complete with their stands, including free shipping anywhere in Australia. Henry Kloss designed and engineered the Model Five speaker in 1969 for those who would like an introduction to these speakers. This is the same Henry Kloss that made the enduring Tivoli Audio model one Desktop radio; note the sophisticated naming protocol.
These speakers are made from the blueprints of the original models, albeit with today's materials.
Reviewers worldwide have compared them favourably against much more expensive speakers from KLisch Heresy IV and the JBL L100s, Both are more expensive as they also do not include stands. The KLH Model Five comes complete with a stand so you don't need to compromise the listening experience while you wait to justify the cost of a stand. Since the arrival of the KLH Model Five into my showroom 2 years ago, these have been the darling of all who audition them.
At $4,000 it is very hard to justify a speaker you would buy without at least short listing these. They have a 10" suspension mounted bass driver, dedicated mid-range and an adjustable Tweeter. Most importantly the speaker enclosure is sealed, with no air escapes, meaning no bass boom, no extra bass no humps you need to deal with and a magical sound.
I think of these speakers as speakers designed for HI-Fi. This is when you could play everything on a pair of speakers because Hi-Fi companies haven't tried to change and colour the sound to make theirs different.
I have people come in with all sorts of music and records to try them out, and they smile even when they hear the dodgy recording that doesn't play well on any Hi-Fi system.
Even though they have a 10" driver, you don't need a ridiculously high-powered amplifier to drive them. Any amplifier with an RRP of over $2k, including Tube amplifiers, will be fine.
