Further Information:
It is with great regret I am listing this amplifier for sale. It has been in my family for almost 2 decades, first owned by my uncle, then my dad and then finally passed down to me. This has driven some hard to drive speakers in the past, including Thiel CS7s, CS7.2s, CS2.4SE, CS2.7s (mine), Hales Transcendence 8s etc. If only I had space for storage I would consider keeping it.
This has been fully recapped twice, most recently by @tubularbells. He was very thorough, rectifying all the issues, replacing all the electrolytic capacitors, as well as updating everything to Mark Levinson’s service bulletin specifications. I also got him to upgrade the hardwired power cable to a larger gauge one with a Furutech FI-50AU-NCF worth $550. Essentially no expenses were spared in getting this back up to it’s former glory. Including the power cable & plug over 2.2k worth of parts were put into this, and bear in mind this excludes labour. It was given a clean bill of health after all that work, and hasn’t been used at all since I picked it up a few weeks ago.
The 336 is rated for 350W RMS both channels driven into 8 ohm, doubling into 4 ohms, and then doubling again into 2ohm. It is claimed to be 1 ohm stable. The full specifications is attached as one of the pages of the owner’s manual below. It has 2 transformers (dual mono) rated at 2450VA, and so weights in at 68kg. Unfortunately modern amplifiers with specifications like this cost an arm & a leg. As such this is only for pickup.
For any serious potential buyer 10km or less from me I am willing to discuss transporting this behemoth (with your help of course!) to your system for you to listen to it in your system. Low-ballers will be ignored.
