Further Information: Mark Levinson No. 5101 SACD/CD, Network Streamer, DAC in perfect, unmarked condition.
Comes with all original packaging, boxes, manuals, and remote.
This unit has been used primarily as a DAC with its Precision Link II performing as well as many/most standalone DACs IMO.
Rarely used as a SACD/CD player, but the results here are outstanding, especially on SACD.
I have a separate streamer so has never been used for streaming purposes.
Two and a half years years old with 5 year warranty, this player was purchased new by me from a Melbourne retailer (receipt available on request).
Highly praised in reviews including StereoNet's Mark Gusew: "The company’s engineers have gone to great lengths to keep the noise floor as low as possible, with five individual power supplies for the DAC chip alone – while four more (two per channel) provide power for the analogue output stage. The unit itself has two main sources of power. A special switching power supply provides power for the SACD drive and all the digital circuitry, while a linear power supply with a toroidal transformer and low-noise Schottky rectifiers provides juice for the analogue circuitry" ...
VERDICT: "There’s no denying the innate feeling of luxury every time you use Mark Levinson equipment, and this makes ownership rather special. The №5101 continues this sensation, and to my mind, establishes benchmark performance levels for others to aspire to."

The Absolute Sound said: " there is certainly a case for the No 5101 if you are looking for one of the best possible DACs for streaming. I’ve had mixed experience with the sound quality of the streamed versions of older classical and acoustic jazz recordings: When I compare the few personal copies I have of high-resolution commercial recordings with the streamed version, I find a number of “hi-res” remasters of older analog recordings and earlier CDs now sound more natural and more musical on an optical disc played back on the best SACD and CD players than they do on many streaming-service versions."
