Eric McChanson 6FD7 switchable stereo/mono valve amplifiers: These began life as stand alone stereo integrated amps and have been modified for me by Eric 'McChanson' Chan and are now unique switchable stereo or mono valve amplifiers. I have been using them mostly as mono blocks. I also had a headphone input added to one amp. I bought both amps separately second hand and Eric enthusiastically collaborated with me to increase power by running them as mono blocks. The legends are true, dealing with Eric has been one of my most enjoyable hifi experiences.

I developed a fascination with 'flea watt' amplifiers and full range speakers. I initially purchased one used single 2 watt McChanson amp and in most cases the 2 watts was sufficient. I am, however, a fan of cranking the volume and found myself wishing for a little more power. I found another amp the same and I asked Eric if he could turn them into mono blocks for increased power. I sent them both to him where we collaborated on the vision for the alterations.

I still love them, but need to raise some funds and they are currently not in my rotation.

This could be the best $675 you've ever spent ( between buying the amps, modifications and extra tubes I spent significantly more than this). I drove some peak/coral CX10 full range speakers with them and it is a dream combo. I could be convinced to sell them as a package.

The configuration of these amps have a variety of possibilities: Mono blocks for increased power. Stand stereo or mono amps. One as speaker based amp and the other as a headphone amp in separate systems. Or even two different speaker systems…. Yikes I'm regretting putting them on the market now…

These are really musical and a genuine pleasure to listen to and have a fulfilling sound signature. I have some spare tubes which I will include. I have different brand tubes in each amp at the moment which has been fine. Comes with premium timber sideburns in gloss finish, produced by Andrew of Creation Audio (one has a crack). These are best paired with high sensitivity speakers.
