An ME 15 pre-amplifier fitted with the moving coil cartridge phono stage.
This is the model with the real gold in the front panel knobs, and is in near-new condition. It has been fully upgraded with the large power supply, the remote control, and the most recent capacitor upgrade.
G’day all,
This sale and the others I have just posted are a result of my “It’s now or never,” binge of upgrading that is (at least for the moment) complete.
I’ve tried to put the asking prices about half way between a fair market value and a “pay it forward” give-away. The idea is that I’d like people who are desperately trying to upgrade or start from scratch to have a chance at getting some decent equipment at a real bargain price so that they can enjoy their music much more than currently. It will also enable me to clear out some extra gear that is very unlikely to get used again and then buy some more music with the proceeds.
There may even be some interconnects going free with equipment—providing they are suitable for your system. (Basic but all working.)
Pleading, begging and “or near offers” are encouraged. You never know what might eventuate.
Here is the ME15 preamp—
This is a classic high-end preamp from Peter Stein that is routinely judged to better preamps that are MUCH more expensive. It’s an early-ish model with the gold trimmed control knobs and is in almost new condition. I’ve never had a problem.
It has been upgraded with the newer moving coil phono stage, the larger power supply, the remote control, and the recent capacitor upgrades. (See here for some discussion.) It was completely checked over in April last year. All work was done by Trevor Wilson at Rage Audio.
Except that I wanted to go fully balanced due to some recent electrical issues I’d probably not have upgraded this piece of equipment. It’s that good.
It has been recommended as a superb headphone amplifier although I’ve not tried it as I have a crossfeed h/p amp that I love.
It comes with the separate power supply and two remote controls—the original and a programmed extra. If you’re placing it off to one side of your listening chair I’ll include the bent piece of aluminium I use to bounce the remote control signal to the receiver! It’s worth at least 50¢.
Can be shipped in the original box (with some added padding!) or picked up. Audition is not possible, sorry. Shipping at buyers expense and risk—it’s gone all over the country with no issues.
