Further Information:
For sale is an MMF 7 turntable with ProJect 9 tonearm fitted with Goldring 2200 MM cartridge.
When I bought it, the MMF 7 was close to the top of Music Hall’s range and its features are:
· Split plinth, belt-driven design with "floating" top chassis assembly
· 16V AC motor assembly in its own enclosure, mounted on a resonance damping puck
· ProJect 9 tonearm
· Gold-plated RCA jacks
· Goldring 2200 high output, moving iron cartridge (moderate use = less than one LP a month during my 4ish years of ownership)
· Heavy acrylic, low resonance platter
· Hinged, perspex dust cover
· Screw-down record puck
· Three adjustable cone-point feet and dimpled coins
· Bubble level set into plinth
I’ve had this lovely turntable for about 4 years but I’ve recently bought a Technics DD restoration project (SL1100) and don’t have room for two turntables.
The turntable operates as it should and is in good cosmetic condition (the perspex cover shows a normal level of scuffs for its age). I've just replaced the drive belt because the old one was cracked and tired.
Here is a review in Stereotimes for the turntable.
I am the second owner of this turntable and I believe they originally retailed for over $AUD1,500. The latest version, the MMF7.3, includes some design tweaks to the plinth, motor (AC to DC motor) and tonearm (V9 to V9cc?), which retails for $2,800. I am looking for half the MMF 7’s original retail price – a veritable bargain at $750! If you pay that price, I'll throw in the cork mat in the pictures.
