Pass Labs HPA-1 TOTL Headphone Amplifier and Preamp

The Pass Labs HPA-1 is probably the finest headphone amplifier I have heard.

And why wouldn't it be - it remains Pass Labs' single masterful foray into headphone amps.

In terms of the sonic profile of the Pass Labs HPA-1, I would describe it as below:

• Incredibly high resolution - I have never heard another headphone amplifier reproduce sound with as much clarity, transparency and fidelity to the source
• Vanishingly low noise floor - completely black, probably the most palpable thing about this amplifier - you hear every last detail
• Oodles of power - easily makes my Abyss Phi CC sing
• Warm side of neutral with bass that is visceral without being overpowering
• If you own a Focal Utopia, there probably is no better amplifier - it takes nothing away from the Utopia's uncanny ability to be 100% transparent like an open window to music. Probably my favourite pairing

Usually I favour balanced designs, but the Pass Labs is designed to be a top tier single ended headamp - and not having balanced inputs/outputs does not detract from the experience whatsoever.
