Japanese Pioneer PL-30L II direct drive turntable with Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge in excellent condition for its age with a few caveats. Released in 1981 it is the entry level model in the highly sort after Pioneer P3 family, looks like a baby P3. I
have owned this table for the last 8 years and it’s always been solid. Everything is working as it should. I’ve never had it serviced though, so if you want it to last another 40 years a service is probably recommended.
As you can see the dust cover has seen better days, could get it looking better with a polish but there are some deep scratches.
It’s a domestic Japanese model so will need a 100v step down converter, you can purchase one from Tortech, they sell the economy version for $51.90.
The table originally was sold with two arms I believe , a carbon-graphite arm and an s bend arm, I only have the carbon arm. I think the table originally came with two counter weights, I only have one weight which is too heavy for most carts I have tried and I believe it was for the s bend arm where you could fit metal heads. The coin trick as seen in the pics works fine or you can find actual head weights.
The Ortofon 2M Blue MM cartridge is pretty much brand new, only about 30 hours on it. These table regularly go for $600 plus on eBay and that’s without cartridge, the Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge’s RRP is $300.
