This receiver has no digital inputs other than an optical in for fibre-optic (TOS-Link) lead that I will provide. It's not designed for ultra-modern home cinema systems (there is no HDMI, network etc.), but is still very good for 2 channel stereo or 5.1 stereo.
There are no issues with the amp, it was more than adequate to power a pair of Spendor LS3/5A bookshelf speakers and at one time a pair of Spendor BC-1 speakers. The amp is in very good condition.

The fair market price for a used Pioneer VSX-D514 Receiver in Australia is conservatively estimated at AUD 100-200. This range reflects recent second-hand listings and sales data for functional units, with no evidence of new stock availability as this is a discontinued early-2000s model.
### Typical Price Range by Condition
| Condition | Price Range (AUD) | Examples |
|-----------|-------------------|----------|
| Used (good/working, with remote/manual) | 100-200 | Cash Converters: $129 (silver VSX-D514-S, good condition, remote/manual included); Gumtree: similar Pioneer receivers listed ~$95-140, one VSX-D514 noted in good working order. |
| Used (fair/heavily bundled or parts/repair) | 50-100 | Lower-end international equivalents convert to ~AUD 30-80 (e.g., €20-60 listings); non-working Pioneer VSX models on Gumtree at $50-120. |
| New/open-box (rare) | 300-350 | Etsy AU listing at AU$347.92 (500W 5.1 receiver, stock noted low); US refurbished at ~AUD 260 equivalent but not local. |
### Key Factors Affecting Value
- Condition and accessories: Fully working units with remote/manual fetch higher prices (e.g., $129 at Cash Converters); missing parts or faults drop to under $100.
- Location and bundling: Australian listings (Gumtree, Cash Converters) are higher than €20-110 European equivalents (~AUD 30-170 at 1 EUR=1.63 AUD); bundles with speakers inflate to €300+ (~AUD 490).
- Age and demand: Low demand for this 5.1 AV receiver (Dolby Digital/DTS, 80-100W/ch) limits upside; recent 2024-2025 listings show stability.
- Market trends: Prices hover low due to age (original US list ~AUD 370); no high-volume sales data, but conservative estimate avoids outliers like bundles.
