Further Information
I am sadly progressing with the sale of most of the components to move to an integrated.
Today it's about my other poweramp, a beautifully sounding Plinus Reference A-150.
Almost new, bought from the official dealer in July 2024 and meant to complement the other poweramp in a multisub configuration that due to the unexpected move to a smaller home I can't do anymore.
Sound way above its price range, it's a real deal.
Can consider trade (I will add cash) with AudioNet Humboldt (my favorite by far), Vitus SIA-030, Pilium Audio Leonidas.
As you can imagine I am not interested into trades with other poweramp or pre. Thank you
Plinius Reference A-150 Power Amplifier
The Reference A-150 is an evolution of the SA series amplifiers that have been so popular among serious lovers of high end audio for the past thirty years. The changes made to the components, particularly the power supply in this model keep its design as fresh as its new aesthetic.
This evolutionary process has resulted in an amplification system capable of the highest level of excellence without breaking the bank.
The Reference A-150 is capable of delivering over 150W in stereo and over 450W in mono via RCA or XLR inputs.
Responsiveness and control are married together with pureness and clarity to faithfully support your speakers as they replicate the artists efforts in stunning detail for your listening pleasure.
The RA-150 has a feature that's rare: A button on the front panel allows you to switch between "class-AB" and "class-A" settings
The new design also has higher rail voltage, which increases the available current and wattage. It also has a more refined driver stage, where the low input signal is amplified, so you match the impedance to the power amplifier input buffer stage, and this contributes to a lower noisefloor. Precision DC regulators help clean up any residual AC that remains in the line stage's power supply. There are no coupling capacitors between the stages; it's all direct coupled. Direct coupling allows the amplifier to go down to DC levels and necessitates a DC protection circuit. Bypass capacitors are Audience AuriCap XO. All these things make for a better sounding amplifier [that] reveals minor details and harmonics in the music."
At the RA-150's heart lies a 1100VA transformer. Its driver-stage power supply contains Nichicon Gold Standard low-ESR (equivalent series resistance) capacitors. Those Nichicon capacitors, which are polypropylene, "quickly release power upon demand." The RA-150 has 72,400µF of capacitance.
