For sale are my Quad S-1 bookshelf / standmount speakers in the attractive red cherry wood finish.
These are a compact but very refined pair of standmounts from Quad’s S Series, featuring a true ribbon tweeter and woven Kevlar bass/mid driver. They deliver a lovely open top end, clean imaging, and a smooth, natural midrange that works beautifully with vocals, acoustic music, jazz, classical, and relaxed hi-fi listening.
Despite their modest size, they throw a surprisingly wide and precise soundstage when placed on proper stands. The ribbon tweeter gives them excellent air and detail without sounding harsh or fatiguing, while the rear-ported cabinet helps them sound fuller than expected for their size.
They are also nicely built, with a quality cabinet finish, rear port, and bi-wire binding posts. A great option for a smaller room, study, apartment system, or second system where you want proper hi-fi performance without large speakers dominating the space.
Postage is available at the buyer’s expense. As these speakers will need to be packed appropriately, it would be best to arrange packaging first and then obtain a shipping quote.
Condition is excellent, with normal signs of use as shown in the photos. Please refer to the images for cosmetic condition.
