CUSTOM REGA PLANAR 3!
Here we have a REGA P3 in superb condition, fully restored and with some very nice upgrades and a rare Japanese made LOGIC Datum tonearm!
The P3 has been stripped, the motor drive capacitor replaced to ensure reliable motor operation, the bearing has been stripped and cleaned out, a new Ceramic ball has been installed and our hi grade oil, a new Sonic Art drive belt finishes off the drive system!
The table has a new felt platter mat, and the acrylic lid has been polished.
The Tonearm is quite a special one, a rare ‘LOGIC Datum’ tonearm was fitted to this table, these arms have quite a following in the UK. The arm geometry is different to Rega, its Linn geometry with a 211mm centre to centre spacing. This arm had been simply bolted into place where the old Rega arm would have been, resulting in a far from optimal setup and one that would make it hard to achieve alignment!
I have designed and machined up a custom arm board to replace the stock LOGIC one, the new armboard is identical in size but has an offset hole for the arm itself, this achieves correct alignment and ensures the cartridge can be set up optimally!
The old Rega doorstop rubber feet have been removed and Sonic Art machined alloy legs have been added, these feature Delrin feet inserts, adjustable for leveling the table and bring increased focus to the soundstage.
Cartridge is a STANTON L747s with D74s Stylus, a fantastic sounding cartridge, suited to light weight tonearms and a great match for the Datum. Cartridge is in excellent condition with plenty of life.
The sound of this P3 is big, musical but detailed, excellent rhythm and timing and a strong bass line typical of Stantons, it suits a wide genre of music and would make a perfect entry into vinyl playback!

Happy to entertain boxing it up and shipping, it would end up around 10kg with lots of packing to make it secure.
