Polymax Absorb XHD 50mm thick black bats in timber frames.

These are the original Polymax panels made by Martini Industries.  They are high density (48kg/m2) 2400 H x 1200mm wide.  Housed in home made timber frames.  For many years I have tried to convince people of the benefits of room treatment as being one of the most effective upgrades in hi-fi at a fraction of the cost of other upgrades.   I use 2 of 900 x 2400 panels in the front wall corners and 1 full panel ea. side at first reflection points.  You can move them away from the walls to attenuate lower frequencies or reduce their size if you feel they are over dampening the room ( but I haven't found that to be a problem at all).

They don't have to be permanently fixed to the wall. I use expandable nuts (see pics) - from a large popular diy store) to hold them in position. that way you can move them around, compare before and after or remove them completely if you have to vacate.  Or you could screw them to heavy bases so that they are free standing.

You don't realise how much echo is in a room until you dampen it or how flabby the bass is until you arrest standing waves that gravitate along wall surfaces  and run into each other at internal corners.  Bass becomes nice and tight.  Everything sounds more focused and you don't get fatigue after listening sessions. By reducing the reflections at first reflection points you will noticed much better 3D holography and sounds that appear from a much wider arc ( wider soundstage) - unwanted reflections "eat" 3D!

Polymax Absorb  are made for acoustic applications from recycled plastic bottles (but you wouldn't think so feeling them).  I prefer them over glass wool as they are inert and I don't like the idea of breathing in very fine particles of glass into my lungs!

They are light to handle but because of their size local pick up is preferred.  I will be going to Brisbane 3rd Oct 2023 (next Tuesday) if that suits.

Thanks for reading & please make time for yourself to listen to music  🙂
