Electrical Disclaimer Description
This sale is for a combination of Stax SRM 400S energizer and SR-L700 Mk2 Earspeakers, that sits right in the "sweet spot" of the Stax range. These units are essentially "new", have had under 70 hours total use and have no marks, or imperfections, cosmetic, or functional, whatsoever. Superb sound. I have an "experienced ear", and this is the first time I have listened to Stax gear at any length. The experience was so excellent in fact, that it has triggered my "upgraditis" condition and in order to scratch that terrible rash I have to sell these and try the top of the range Stax gear. I appeal to my fellow sufferers of this condition to assist me with the "treatment".
N.B. The Stax warranty is unfortunately non-transferrable, but original receipt is available. However ALL original packaging is available and will be used to ship the items in this sale.

Stax SRM-400S
The Stax SRM-400S is a solid-state driver unit (energiser) designed specifically for Stax electrostatic "earspeakers". Acting as both a dedicated headphone amplifier and high-voltage power supply, it features a 580V DC bias and an all-stage FET (Field-Effect Transistor) configuration to deliver high-resolution, low-distortion audio.

Stax SR-L700 MK2
The Stax SR-L700 MK2 is an acclaimed, open-back electrostatic earspeaker famous for its incredible midrange transparency, vocal intimacy, and pinpoint detail resolution. It requires a dedicated electrostatic amplifier (energizer) to operate but rewards listeners with a highly resolving, fatigue-free listening experience.
Sound Profile
Midrange & Vocals: Widely considered the standout feature. Vocals are thick, vivid, and float effortlessly right in front of the listener.
Detail & Clarity: Highly analytical; it will effortlessly unearth micro-details and textures in complex tracks without sounding piercing or harsh.
Soundstage: Open and spacious, though it favors intimacy and precise instrument layering over an artificially massive stage.
Bass: Deep, exceptionally fast, and clean, thanks to Stax's MLER (Multi-Layer Electrodes). However, it lacks the visceral, hard-hitting dynamic punch found in traditional planar or dynamic driver headphones.
Build & Design
MK2 Upgrades: The most significant improvements over the original L700 are the detachable cable structure and the sturdier aluminum case holders. This increases longevity and allows for third-party cables.
Comfort: Despite their quirky, industrial "box" shape, they are incredibly lightweight and highly comfortable for multi-hour listening sessions. They feature genuine sheepskin leather ear pads.
