Electrical Disclaimer Description
The Taiko Audio Extreme Switch is one of the most uncompromising network devices ever produced for high-end audio — a statement piece that reflects Taiko's cost-no-object philosophy applied to the often-overlooked digital network interface.
Construction
The Extreme Switch is a nearly 15kg switching hub carved from a solid copper block. The chassis itself functions as a massive ground, physically suppressing vibration and noise. At 22 × 22 × 5 cm, it is visually and physically unlike any conventional audiophile switch. The copper body provides extraordinary resonance control and acts as a natural EMI shield — qualities no off-the-shelf switch can approach.
Design Philosophy
Taiko views the network as the greatest noise source in a digital audio system, and the Extreme Switch addresses this with a custom circuit designed for absolute minimum noise, minimum power consumption, and minimum processing overhead. The switch achieves the absolute lowest possible noise by consuming the lowest possible power, with the least possible processing overhead.
Connectivity is deliberately minimal: one SFP+ input, one SFP+ output — purpose-built for point-to-point connection rather than the signal-degrading complexity of multi-port consumer switches.
SFP Cables Included
This unit is offered with a pair of SFP cables, allowing connection straight out of the box. Taiko strongly recommends DAC (Direct Attach Copper) SFP cable connections over optical — DAC cables have minimal power consumption, and in Taiko's switch design, the noise floor reduction from low power consumption far outweighs the benefits of physical optical isolation for sound quality.
Reviewed & Acclaimed — Mono & Stereo Editor's Choice Award
The Taiko Audio Extreme Switch and Network Card were awarded the Mono & Stereo Editor's Choice — one of the most respected accolades in high-end audio publishing. The full review concluded that the Taiko Audio Extreme Switch brings a significant leap in performance when playing streamed or locally stored music — more information, and more solidity that allows for the creation of a higher number of acoustic nodes — and that everything works in perfect sync, making the music a more harmonious whole and delivering a more coherent listening experience that can truly be called state of the art.

Compatibility Note
The Extreme Switch operates at Gigabit / 1000Mbps SFP only — it is not compatible with 100Mbps network components. Ideal as a dedicated last-leg switch between your network and a high-end streaming server, music server, or DAC.
