Building on the reputation and performance of the immensely popular RI-100, this RI-101 updated model is a sonic improvement in every way, despite similar appearance and specifications. Higher resolution has been achieved with upgrades to power supplies in the preamp and power amp, as explained in reviews.
Rated Class AB output is 300W RMS @ 8 ohms and 600W RMS @ 4 ohms, biased into Class A for the first 12W RMS @ 8 ohms so that most listening is in Class A mode. Huge power reserves for control and dynamics are achieved using a 1kV transformer and 216,000 microfarad capacitance per channel, which partly explains its 40kg weight. 3 pairs of XLR inputs, 2 pairs of RCA inputs and 1 pair of XLR outputs for connection of a subwoofer or second power amp are included, as well as comprehensive settings selectable via the front panel controls.
