Wilson Benesch Trinity – going cheap! You may know the brand – ultra expensive British speakers.
The Trinity is a genuine 3-way model, with integrated metal stands. Original RRP around 10 years ago was over A$11,000. Currently there is an identical pair on sale in the US for US$5,000. Link: https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650048902-wilson-benesch-trinity/
The speakers work perfectly, and sound magnificent. So why are they being sold at a knock-down price? Read on.
I purchased these 9 years ago from a guy in the UK, and he shipped them over, via Philippine Airlines. The speaker is integrated into the stand, so each one was in a huge cardboard box. One box somehow got slightly wet on the way over. When I took possession, the damp had watermarked the side and back of one speaker, and made the resin cloudy. A real bummer! BUT…. There was absolutely no damage to the drivers, or the electronics. The damage to one speaker (see pics) is entirely cosmetic. It in NO way impacts the performance of the speaker, and its rune fine the 9 years I’ve owned it.
In any case, if the speaker was in a corner, you wouldn’t even notice the cosmetic damage.
The 2nd speaker is near mint. Both have some slight polish marks on the piano-black top, but minimal. Both come with there removable metal screens, and both have Kimber Kable links.
Pickup only from 2257, and happy for anyone interested to inspect / demo.
So….. price already heavily discounted as a result of the cosmetic damage to one of the two speakers.
Really…. place them right, and you’ll never even see the flaw. But you will get FABULOUS sound at a knock-down price.
